Living in Tel Aviv

Main Post:

I (40f) currently live in the US and have recently been thinking about making Aliyah. I don't believe America is headed in the right direction in combating the rising antisemitism and our failed leadership from all parties isn't doing more to stop it.

That said, it was pretty nerve-wracking that Tel Aviv was attacked this week. What is the reality of living in Tel Aviv, safety-wise? Are people fearful of the missiles? Are armed terrorists and/or attacks on public transportation an every day threat? I feel like I would be no less safe in Tel Aviv, and as a woman, I'd at least have more rights and a better quality of life.

The attack on Tel Avis was the first in months, there probably be a few more. Terrorist attacks are always a concern but it not something that happen every, it’s pretty safe.

Safe to Travel to Tel Aviv For an Extended amount of time ?

Main Post:

Hello all,

Been wanting to make a post like this for sometime but was waiting on confirmation of whether or not travel to Israel was even a possibility.

Long story short, my child needs to have some medical work done, and it is only done in Israel. If everything works out, we would stay for a week, leave, and then come back for possibly 4 weeks.

Wife and I have what seems like a million questions but, we are really trying to find out if traveling to Israel, mainly the Tel Aviv area is safe, and if staying that amount of time (the 2nd trip) would also be safe.

We have both visited other countries before but with everything going on right now, we are just trying to be cautious because of our little one.

If everything works out, this could immensely help with his future, medically. Granted, he could have a miracle happen and we wouldn’t have to travel, but we are trying to cover all of our bases.

Apologies if I may sound ignorant at all by assuming traveling to Israel isn’t safe, but because of our child, and again, everything going on in the news, we are just trying to be cautious.

Thank you so much for your help!

I was there for Pesach - it is very safe. I felt much safer in Israel than I do back home in Belgium. I have travelled with laptops and tablets - standard procedures apply (take them out of your bag to be scanned and so on). However, do prepare for a small departure interview (when leaving Israel) just before the check-in. The interviewers are very friendly and speak/understand English well.

Good luck with the medical work! I hope it goes well!

Is it safe to travel to Tel Aviv right now?

Main Post:

I was planning a trip to Israel for several months. Given the latest news I’m a bit concerned if we should go or not. I understand Tel Aviv isn’t near the borders, but worry if any new developments may affect flights and such.

How safe is it to travel to Tel Aviv?

Child is going on a volunteer trip in July. I have no problem with it, but their grandparent do. Our israeli friends are neutral about it.

My thinking is life is inherently dangerous, don’t stop living, follow the crowd when there’s a siren.

Today's Tel Aviv protests

Main Post:

Protesters in Tel Aviv block Kaplan Street as they call for new elections, release of hostages; Ayalon Highway also partly blocked

https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/protesters-in-tel-aviv-block-street-as-they-call-for-new-elections-release-of-hostages/

What are your guy's opinions on this protest also calling for new elections? Hostages need to be free but I'd argue we need to end Hamas now so we don't need to deal with this again. I would love Bibi, Somotich, and Ben givir to not be in the government and I hope they don't get relected. With that said I believe having elections right now would hurt Israel. What do you all think?

Top Comment:

My opinion is most people don't trust the government nor Bibi enough to patiently wait for the IDF to finish what it started. I doubt anyone genuinely thinks accepting the "deal" Hamas offered is a good idea, but on the other hand they just don't trust Bibi to prioritise the hostages instead of his own ass.
